Treatment Options

Gastric Balloon

In this surgery, an Orbera™ balloon is inserted into the stomach of the patient and left there for a period of months. During this period the patient is encouraged to engage in healthy food and exercise habits, guided by Georgia SurgiCare’s weight loss center.
Orbera balloon
The balloon causes patients to feel full faster and to remain that way, cutting down on hunger and cravings in a safe manner and helping them lose weight.

Georgia SurgiCare’s multi-page Treatment Guide includes general procedure information, as well as financing options.

Gastric Bypass

Gastric Bypass

One of the most common weight loss surgeries, a gastric bypass is when a surgeon involves the division of the stomach into two separate parts. This effectively makes the part of the stomach actually used much smaller, and so patients feel full more quickly and eat less, which aids weight loss.

Gastric Sleeve

Gastric Sleeve

Similar to a Gastric bypass, this procedure involves separating the stomach into different parts. But instead of blocking a part of the stomach from receiving food, a portion of the stomach is completely removed, resulting in a sleeve-like appearance. This reduces the amount of food the patient can eat, and helps them to feel satisfied with less food during meals.

Adjustable Gastric Banding

Minimally invasive, the adjustable gastric banding, or lap-band procedure consists of placing the device around the upper part of the stomach. The band limits how much food the patient eats because it makes the patient feel full after consuming smaller portions.
