TIF

What is TIF (Esophyx)?

Transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) is a minimally invasive treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Moreover, this procedure is performed through the mouth which means you will not have any incisions in your abdomen!

Who is a candidate for TIF?

Do you suffer from chronic acid reflux? Have you already tried pharmaceutical therapies with no results? Are you looking for an scarless procedure to solve your problem?

You may be a candidate for TIF!

How does the procedure work?

A specially designed endoscope with a camera is transorally (through the mouth) placed into the stomach and the stomach is inflated. The scope is then positioned to view the junction between the esophagus and the stomach. Next, the physician will pull down the tissue from the gastroesophageal valve (GEV) and  wraps the tissue around to make a new valve. This newly created valve is fastened to fuse the tissue. During this time if there is a hiatal hernia the surgeon will also fix it saving you the hassle of having to have another operation.

What are benefits of the TIF Procedure?

  • Outpatient – no hospital stay
  • Affordable
  • Long lasting
