Do you suffer from varicose veins?
Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins that most commonly appear in the legs and feet. Damage in the lower extremities of the body are more common due to standing and walking increasing the pressure of those veins. These veins can appear as bulging and twisted with a dark purple or blue color. Some people want to get rid of varicose veins for just cosmetic reasons, but others decide to seek medical help due to aching pain and discomfort. Painful symptoms include an achy or heavy feeling in the legs, itching around one or more veins, burning, throbbing, swelling, and hardening of the vein. If you suffer from these symptoms, the Venefit procedure might be right for you!
Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy is an effective treatment for varicose veins and Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI).
In a comparative multi-center study on the treatment of great saphenous reflux, the Venefit™ procedure delivered by the ClosureFast catheter, demonstrated less pain, less bruising, and fewer complications than 980 nm laser ablation.1
To determine if the Venefit procedure is right for you, we invite you to speak with a vein specialist. For further assistance in locating a trained specialist in the area closest to you, contact information is provided below.
What is the Venefit procedure?
The Venefit procedure offers patients a non-surgical method of treating varicose veins to not only improve the skin’s appearance, but also reduce the pain and health risks associated with large varicose veins.
How does the Venefit procedure work?
During the Venefit procedure, the surgeon will insert a special catheter, known as the Covidien ClosureFast endovenous radiofrequency ablation (RFA) catheter, through a slight incision below the knee. The catheter is then guided using ultrasound imaging and the target vein is treated using heat that does not exceed 120°C. The heat, which is produced by radiofrequency energy, causes the collagen to denature and therefore the vein shrinks around the catheter. After the enlarged vein is sealed shut, the blood will naturally find its way to healthy veins.
How long does the Venefit procedure take?
On average, one vein can be treated in as little as 15 minutes.
What are the advantages of the Venefit procedure?
The advantages of the Venefit procedure are that it is a minimally invasive procedure that does not require general anesthesia. The procedure also results in less pain, less bruising, little or no scarring, and faster recovery than vein stripping.
When will I start seeing results? How long will those results last?
Results should be seen within a week of the surgery. These results have been shown to last for at least 3 years in 93% of patients.
