Will Varicose Veins Go Away On Their Own?

Will Varicose Veins Go Away On Their Own?

What Are Varicose Veins?

Whether you have a family history of varicose veins or are simply looking to learn more about treatment options, IBI Healthcare Institute’s Advanced Vein Center is here to help. Varicose veins, commonly observed in the legs, are enlarged and dark veins. While mostly a cosmetic concern, they can also cause pain and discomfort for some individuals, potentially leading to more severe complications.

What Are The Risk Factors?

You may be at risk for developing varicose veins if you have a family history as this can be a hereditary condition. Your age, sex, and weight are also factors that may increase your risk of developing varicose veins. Women are more likely to develop the condition as well as those who are older and/or higher weight. Our goal here at IBI Healthcare Institute is to provide patients access to the best vein and vascular care.

Will Varicose Veins Go Away On Their Own?

You cannot completely prevent varicose veins and they will usually not go away once you already have them. Seeking treatment is the best way to fix the problem. Additionally, making specific lifestyle changes can prevent future recurrence:

  • Maintaining a healthy weight
  • Elevating your legs daily
  • Compression socks
  • Staying active
  • Monitor weight gain during pregnancy

What Are The Treatment Options for Varicose Veins?

Venefit:

This procedure is an effective non-surgical treatment for varicose veins and helps to improve the appearance as well as reducing any pain and health risks.  There are various benefits to this procedure. It is minimally invasive and causes less pain and bruising accompanied by an accelerated recovery time. Your surgeon will use a special catheter that he inserts through a small incision below the knee during the procedure. He will treat the veins using heat, which will cause them to shrink and improve the appearance of varicose veins.

VenaCure EVLT:

This procedure reduces the appearance of varicose veins to help you look and feel your best. The surgeon will use a local anesthetic and insert a thin laser fiber into a small entry point near the knee. Laser energy is used to reduce the appearance of enlarged veins. After the procedure, there may be minor soreness and bruising but most patients quickly return to normal activity with little to no pain.

Vein Stripping:

This treatment helps to improve the skin’s appearance and helps to reduce the pain and health risks associated with varicose veins. During the procedure, the surgeon will make a small entry incision near the affected vein at the top and bottom and insert a thin wire to pull the vein out. The incisions will then be closed with stitches. Recovery time will vary for patients depending on the number of veins removed.
